BRYAN KOSCIOLEK
an artist living and practicing in Chicago, IL. He was born in Macomb, Michigan in 1994. Growing up Kosciolek was influenced by the manufacturing industry, cartoons and street culture. Being engaged in the traditional media of drawing and painting from a young age, Kosciolek developed a colorful, figurative aesthetic. In 2017, he received his Bachelor of Fine Art degree in Illustration from Kendall College of Art and Design.
After college, Kosciolek began working as a designer in the screen printing industry by day. While moonlighting as a muralist and teaching printmaking classes by night. A man addicted to the grind. From 2017 to 2020 Kosciolek had been working in Dinderbeck Studio. His experience at Dinderbeck had commanded graphic elements to emerge in his artistic practice, fusing with his manufacturing background, influencing his work today. The images above are from private classes offer during his time with the studio (bottom two images).
During 2020, gave Kosciolek the opportunity to slow down and evaluate his lifestyle. He took the chance and moved to Wisconsin to work within the music industry. Specifically, a company that focuses on ethically manufactured merchandise (Ambient Inks LLC). It was a great experience but Kosciolek felt a disconnection with his family and friends. Ultimately, he moved to Chicago to reconnect with college friends and entered the wonderful world of package design!
Currently, Kosciolek is working for Tracylocke. A major change in a lot of ways. The company is much larger and works with fortune 500 companies. It is truly a hard shift from working within a “DYI” space teaching bands how to set up artwork for screen printing on thrifted shirts to working with packaging that I see at my local big box store. It has been a wonderful experience to work with these established brands. Tracylocke also operates under as Haygarth LLC.
